The story

Omer started writing code before he started medical school. He never stopped — through medical school at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, through residency, and through clinical practice he kept building software and following the AI field as it grew up. When his own students started asking him how to handle the modern USMLE Step 1 study load, the answer was clear: the existing tools optimize for question volume, not for understanding mechanism.

With Step 1 now pass/fail, the challenge has shifted. The concepts aren’t the hard part — the volume is. Every MCQ, flashcard, pearl, mechanism map, cram sheet, and audio lesson in Alavna USMLE exists for one reason: to make the required knowledge manageable for a real human studying alongside rotations, family, and the rest of life.

How we build content

AI does the heavy lifting on volume — drafting and connecting content at a scale a single author couldn’t. But every MCQ, flashcard, and pearl is cross-checked against a second model and reviewed by a physician before it ships. You shouldn’t have to take an AI’s word for something this important. The pipeline runs on Google Cloud (Firebase, Cloud Functions, Vertex/Gemini) with strict review gates between each stage.
