Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Alavna USMLE website at alavna.com and the Alavna USMLE mobile and web applications (collectively, the “Service”), provided by Alavna LLC, a limited liability company registered in North Carolina and based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA (“Alavna,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What the Service Is

Alavna USMLE is an educational study companion designed to help medical students prepare for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1. The Service provides multiple-choice questions, flashcards, clinical pearls, mechanism maps, cram sheets, audio lessons, and related study tools.

The Service is not medical advice. Nothing in the Service constitutes diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for professional medical judgment. Content is for educational purposes only.

USMLE® is a joint program of the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) and the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB). Alavna USMLE is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NBME or FSMB.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 to create an account or enter into a paid plan. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Accounts and Acceptable Use

Once account registration is available, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You agree not to:

• Share, resell, or commercially redistribute any content from the Service without our written permission.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape at volume, or circumvent technical protections.
• Upload malicious code, interfere with the Service’s operation, or attempt unauthorized access.
• Use the Service to cheat on, compromise, or aid cheating on any USMLE examination or other regulated assessment.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any institution.

4. Intellectual Property

All content in the Service — including MCQs, explanations, flashcards, pearls, mechanism maps, cram sheets, audio lessons, software, design, and branding — is owned by Alavna LLC or its licensors and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to access and use the Service for your own study purposes only.

“Alavna” and “Alavna USMLE” are trademarks of Alavna LLC.

5. Payments (When Paid Features Launch)

Certain features may be offered on a paid basis in the future. If you purchase a paid plan, the pricing, billing frequency, and cancellation terms will be disclosed at the point of purchase and incorporated into these Terms by reference.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALAVNA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT USE OF THE SERVICE WILL RESULT IN ANY PARTICULAR EXAM OUTCOME.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALAVNA LLC, ITS OFFICERS, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $100.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.

9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, North Carolina, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” above. For significant changes we will provide notice through the Service. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
